Goal: to get families to meet regularly

What is Family altar (also known as family worship/family devotion)?

Let me say what is it not ..

Family altar is not in depth bible study …..
Family altar is not a mini-fellowship event ……
Family altar is not a sermon time ……

Family altar is about bringing our relationship with God and with each other in a context of a family. Faith is an abstract term if it is without its concrete expression. We worship in the church or fellowship or small group. What family altar does is to bring family members together to worship.

The Aim of Family Altar: to build Christ-centred home

  1. To encourage all families to read the bible regularly, and pray together.
  2. Start with the simple steps:
    1. Gathering: greeting (Parents)
    2. Song (one familiar hymn or chorus)
    3. Opening prayer
    4. Read bible (use Psalm or devotional material); one Psalm at a time.
    5. Share what we can pray for each. Then ask them to pray for one sentence or more sentences according to their age;
    6. Finish with silence prayer/Lord’s prayer/ Closing prayer.
  3. Let us try to meet for 15 -20 minutes the. Extend it accordingly.

Notes:

  • Begin with once a week with a suitable where parents are more relax and children are around
  • Parents can prepare the bible reading the day before, and prepare a short sharing what this means for you;
  • You can prepare a question to relate to the text of the passage;
  • You can invite your minister to come to your home to start the first session

什么是家庭祭坛？

它不是…….深入的查经
它不算是……… 小型的团契聚会
它不是………讲道的时候

家庭祭坛是将我们与神的关系，与人的关系，在家庭的环境中建立起来。我们的信仰若没有藉着更实际的表达，它就是抽象之物。因此，若我们可以在教会，在团契，或在小组来敬拜神，我们也是可以选择在家庭里来敬拜神。开始固然困难，但是只要我们持执以恒，我们便会学习在主耶稣里成长。

目的： 透过家庭祭坛来建立一个以基督为中心的家庭。

程序：

  1. 鼓励每个家庭经常在一起读经，一起祷告，一起分享（3个一）。
  2. 开始步骤：（最重要：就是要尝试各样的方法)
    1. 聚集：欢迎（家长）
    2. 唱诗：唱一两首诗歌（自行安排选择诗歌)
    3. 祷告：也可让家庭成员轮流带领祷告。
    4. 颂读：可用诗篇，灵修材料等
    5. 分享：分享彼此的心得，也可以藉此问一两个应用问题。
    6. 代祷：彼此代祷，一句简短的祷告，感谢或三言两语的代祷。
    7. 结束：可用主祷文，祷告或默祷作为结束。
  3. 尽量在15-20分钟内完成（或可按需要调整）

备注事项：

  • 找一个较轻松适合大家的时间（若孩子已在中学或大学）
  • 父母可以提早一天预备该读的经文，之后预备一些分享的心声。
  • 父母可预先预备适合的讨论或应用问题（与主题内容或经文有关的）
  • 可鼓励邀请您堂会的牧者先带您们进行第一次的家庭祭坛聚会。
